Constuctivism VS Objectivism

  VIDEO GAMES AS EDUCATIONAL TOOLS

Constructivists learn new things. They learn by doing on hands lessons. They take in knowledge and store it. For example, a young teen does an internship with an air conditioning company and learns the ins and outs of the job. Another example would be a housewife decides to go to school for hair design and in a few months has her own shop.

Objectivists learn by being taught. they will take in all the information possible, remember it, and can recall it anytime at a later time. An example would be giving a group of classmates a problem on dating a fossil and they solve it together.

I think video games could be used in schools as long as the programs within the games are educationally focused to win the game. Critics say winning the game becomes more important than the educational focus. I say don't use those types of games. Make the game be one that has to use the educational task at hand to win.

I have 2 grandsons that play learning games all the time and they are at the top of their class in everything. I believe games can be extremely helpful if they're the right type of games and used to learn, not compete.

See the source image        I disagree with the author of this article. I think power point is very useful. It illustrates your points and if done well, should keep the audience's attention. As for being loud, slow, and simple well I don't see anything wrong with that. Very loud makes sure everyone hears and keeps their attention, very slow makes sure everyone reads and sees the points, and simple makes sure everyone understands. Power point is a great way to study, a great way for students to learn, and a great way for teachers to give lessons and notes.
